Continuing Education Requirements

Mandatory continuing education came into effect on January 1, 2000. All registrants are required to complete 24 Mandatory Continuing Education credit hours of real estate education in each two-year registration cycle. Six of those credit hours are obtained through the mandatory "RECO REAL ESTATE UPDATE". Members must also complete 3 credit hours in a subject area related to each specialty designation being maintained. The balance of the credits can be obtained through self-selected courses and seminars.

RECO Real Estate Update This course must be taken during each 2-year registration cycle. It is provided only by OREA.
6 credit hours
Specialty Designations Members must complete 3 credit hours in a subject area related to each specialty designation being maintained, if any.
3 to 6 credit hours
Self-selected courses/seminars The balance of the credit hours are to self-selected education courses/seminars completed within the 2-year registration cycle. Balance of credit hours to a total of 24 credit hours
RECO strongly urges all members to complete a course/seminar on the Code of Ethics that comes into effect on January 1, 2000. As an incentive, members who complete such a course/seminar (of 3 hours or more) will receive double the credit hours. Double the credit hours if completed prior to December 31, 2003
